Today's show even includes a 6 minute video clip taken from IDUG in Prague. ATTENDEES will receive all the cool SQL commands electronically! Watch and learn...

Show Host Scott Hayes Commentary

For many years, I've been writing blogs and teaching at IDUG about DB2 LUW Performance Monitoring and Tuning. You can find links to cost metrics, ratios, rules of thumb, index design topics, and more within the popular blog DB2 LUW Performance Blog - Greatest Hits. While all these metrics are still valid and helpful, it occurred to me that my "secret sauce for success " over the years has been from even more valuable information: WEIGHTS. If you need to make a DB2 database run crazy fast, then you need to take as much weight out of the workload as quickly as possible. If you enjoy this replay and find it helpful, please tell your friends and peers.

Congratulations!

Lloyd Grendys at BCBS IL in Chicago IL completed our survey after Episode #141 "DB2 Cancun Shadow Tables with Iqbal Goralwalla " and has won a $25 Amazon.com gift certificate! We'll get this sent out within the next few weeks! THANK YOU FOR COMPLETING OUR POST-SHOW SURVEY!!!

Think About This

Larry Ellison resigned shortly after IBM released DB2 BLU V10.5 Cancun. Hmmm. Makes you wonder, doesn't it? Is Larry saying "Uncle? "

In other news, the State of Oregon is suing Oracle over a failed Obamacare website. That's a darn shame because others in the health care industry are enjoying great success with IBM DB2. Choose wisely.
