Session Overview: Capture SQL statistics from Db2’s dynamic statement cache and combine these statistics with EXPLAIN table information for deeper insights. By the end, you'll be able to identify the most impactful queries to tune, allowing you to focus on high-value areas. Key Metrics: Started with fundamental metrics like RID list errors, then move to advanced metrics such as top consumers, I/O statistics, lock contention, and more. You’ll learn to track the performance of individual SQL statements over time to help reveal performance trends. Dynamic SQL Workload Monitoring: Addressed access path changes—a frequent challenge in environments with high dynamic workloads. For example, a single RUNSTATS execution can lead to unexpected access path changes. By utilizing historic EXPLAIN data, you’ll be able to quickly spot and address these changes.
