Show Host Scott Hayes Commentary
Maybe you think you know about DB2's Explain capabilities, but a lot has been changed and improved in recent releases and fixpacks. Based on our audience's feedback, there's a 100% chance you will expand your knowledge of Explain by watching the replay of this show. Even I learned a few new cool things that I now want to experiment with!
During our show, the question came up "When was PLANID added?" John got back to me and indicated that PLANID, STMTID, and SEMANTIC_ENV_ID were added in 10.5 FP4. So, yes, as usual, it is worthwhile to make sure you are using current fixpack levels! To see a summary of the DB2 LUW 10.5 fixpack goodies (contents), John recommends THIS LINK.

A message from our sponsor:
DBI Software
During today's quick 3 minute commercial, DBI demonstrated some performance trend charts that are complete with change indicators plotted on the charts. DBI has been automatically tracking important database change events since V8.2 of DB2. Change events are plotted on trend charts so that you can see the performance consequences of any changes. Trend charts without changes are, at best, merely pretty. Do you want pretty, or do you want results?
