Special Guest: Susan Lawson |
In episode Z21, our special guest, Susan Lawson, presented what is new in Data Sharing in the DB2 10 release. Her second part is all about member consolidation. As you will see in the presentation is removing members a task that needs a lot of planning. Watch and learn...
To be honest, I have always hated Data Sharing. So complex, so much to think of. But Susan makes it easy to digest. Even a difficult topic like getting rid off a member she explains in a way so it sounds easy. But don't be fooled, like Susan said member consolidation is AS difficult as getting started was. Planning, planning, and more careful planning is needed. If it was my data sharing cluster and we needed to consolidate then I would ask Susan to do the planning ;-) And about that easy way out of data sharing, well... we will make sure that the lab also watches the replay, so they know some of you want / need that.
